Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi and her team at Red Sparks are on the verge of achieving a remarkable win streak as they approach the end of 2024.
Red Sparks has continued their impressive performance in the Korean volleyball league this season. Following their victory over AI Peppers on Thursday (December 26), the Daejeon-based team has now claimed seven consecutive wins.
Since November 30, 2024, Red Sparks has been unstoppable. Under the guidance of coach Ko Hee Jin, the team has triumphed over IBK Altos, Hi Pass (twice), Hillstate, Pink Spiders, GS Caltex, and AI Peppers in succession.
On December 31, Megawati and her teammates will face IBK Altos. A win in this match would mark eight consecutive victories for Red Sparks, a feat they last achieved during the 2008/2009 season.
Furthermore, a win against IBK Altos on Tuesday (December 31) would allow Red Sparks to sweep the third round clean.
The third round for Red Sparks commenced with a win over IBK Altos on December 7. It’s worth noting that in one complete round of the Korean women’s volleyball league, a club competes six times.
In the earlier rounds, Red Sparks displayed inconsistent performances.
Out of the 17 matches thus far, Red Sparks has achieved 11 victories and suffered six defeats. They currently sit in third place with 31 points, trailing nine points behind Pink Spiders and Hillstate, who occupy the first and second positions, respectively.
For now, Red Sparks is not completely safe from the pursuit of IBK Altos, who are in fourth place, just three points behind.
