Masyarakat Mau Bongkar Pagar Laut Didekat PSN PIK2, KKP: Silahkan Cabut!

Suara.com – Pung Nugroho Saksono, the Director General of Maritime Resources and Fisheries Supervision (PSDKP) at the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), expressed his support for the community’s plan to remove the sea fence near the National Strategic Project (PSN) Tropical Coastland Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) 2 in Tangerang Regency next week.

“If there’s indeed such information, that would be excellent, and we are truly grateful,” Pung stated in a quote from Antara on Friday (January 17, 2025).

It has been reported that the community responsible for constructing the 30-kilometer-long bamboo sea fence plans to dismantle it.

Pung emphasized that those who installed the fence must take responsibility for its removal.

“The sooner it is removed, the better,” he added.

With the dismantling of the bamboo fence, Pung hopes that fishermen can carry out their daily activities without disruption.

He reiterated that erecting a sea fence without proper authorization is unacceptable, especially since this particular fence is situated in Fishing Zones and Energy Management Zones, which could adversely affect fishermen and harm coastal ecosystems.

Previously, the KKP had conducted a sealing operation on Thursday (January 9), requesting the party responsible for the sea fence to dismantle it within 20 days.

In a separate discussion, Achmad Nur Hidayat, an economist and public policy expert from UPN Veteran Jakarta, estimated that the illegal installation of the sea fence results in annual losses amounting to IDR 116.91 billion.

This loss encompasses impacts on fishermen’s income, increased operational costs, and damage to marine ecosystems.

“The presence of the sea fence along the coasts of Tangerang and Bekasi has led to considerable economic, social, and ecological losses. This project not only harms fishermen but also fails to deliver the promised benefits. On-the-ground realities indicate that the construction of this fence has resulted in more negative effects than positive ones,” Achmad remarked.

He detailed that the estimated loss of IDR 116.91 billion includes a decrease in fishermen’s income by IDR 93.31 billion per year, an increase in operational costs by IDR 18.60 billion per year, and marine ecosystem damage valued at IDR 5 billion per year.
