Recent updates regarding Virgil van Dijk’s future have emerged. Liverpool has officially made their first offer to extend Van Dijk’s contract.

Alongside Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk’s future has become a topic of speculation, especially with only six months remaining on their current contracts. However, there are no indications yet that extensions will be agreed upon.

This situation has been a source of concern for Liverpool since last summer, causing manager Arne Slot to face questions about it every week. The potential loss of these three key players would undoubtedly be a setback for the club.

Several top European clubs are reportedly showing interest in Van Dijk, Salah, and Trent, which has left Liverpool’s management in a state of urgency. In fact, Salah urged the club just two weeks ago to expedite the process of securing a new contract.

The Athletic recently provided an update on the ongoing contract discussions for the trio. Van Dijk is the first player to receive a new contract offer from Liverpool.

Nevertheless, reports suggest that the offer is slightly below Van Dijk’s expectations, and no agreement has been reached regarding the financial terms or the length of the contract.

As for Salah and Trent, negotiations are expected to commence soon. At 33 years old, Van Dijk’s experience remains crucial for Liverpool’s success.

So far this season, Van Dijk has made 18 appearances, contributing two goals and one assist across all competitions.
