Suara.com – On Tuesday, December 24, 2024, a tragic incident occurred in Kampung Kago, District Ilaga, Puncak Regency, Central Papua, where an honorarium teacher was shot dead by an unidentified assailant while at his own warung (small shop).
According to Brigadier General Faizal Rahmadani, the Commander of the Cartenz Peace Task Force, the 44-year-old victim’s body has already been transported back to his hometown for burial.
“Currently, the victim’s remains have been evacuated to Makassar for interment in his ancestral home in Toraja,” he stated, as reported by Antara on Wednesday, December 25, 2024.
Faizal further noted that his team is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting that resulted in the man’s death.

“At this point, it’s unclear who the shooter is, as the investigation is still ongoing,” he mentioned.
Witness accounts reveal that prior to the shooting, two suspicious individuals approached the area near the victim’s warung.
One of them reportedly drew a weapon from beneath his clothing and fired through a gap in the warung’s wooden wall, striking the victim.
One witness claimed to have seen the assailants both before and after the shooting, and even reported that the suspects aimed a pistol at him during the encounter.
At that moment, the witness pleaded for his life, saying, “Please don’t shoot me; I have children.”

Following the attack, the assailants fled towards Jalan Kimak.
Another witness stated that upon hearing the gunfire, he rushed to the Puncak Police Station to report the incident.
By the time authorities arrived at the scene, the assailants had already escaped, and the victim succumbed to gunshot wounds to the left side of his chest. (Antara)
