Angkie Yudistia, the Chairperson of the Forum for Disability Sports (Forpodis), remarked on how the diversity among athletes reflects the rich variety in the world of sports. She emphasized that sports activities stem from different cultural backgrounds but unite under the spirit of sportsmanship.

“This forum is designed, among other things, to gather information to prepare aspiring athletes,” Angkie stated in Jakarta on Saturday, December 28, 2024.

She also urged for increased attention to the development of Human Resources (HR) in sports from the foundational level. In her view, this focus is crucial for achieving outstanding athletic accomplishments in the future. To realize this goal, Angkie suggested that one of the first steps should be to develop an effective sports curriculum and establish supporting sports facilities in schools.

Angkie elaborated that sports serve as a universal language that brings together individuals from diverse backgrounds. When on the field, differences in ethnicity, religion, race, and culture become insignificant. All players and spectators share a singular purpose: to achieve victory and embrace the spirit of competition.

“Sports are a powerful medium for celebrating diversity and demonstrating that unity is strength. We can feel the energy of the athletes as they compete,” she explained.

Mikha Tambayong, an Expert Staff Member of the Minister of Youth and Sports for Public Communication, spoke about the importance of diversity in sports. She also encouraged the attendees with disabilities to maintain their physical health for both physical and mental resilience.
