BBM hingga Listrik Aman Saat Nataru, Begini Kesiapannya

Jakarta, IDN Times – As we approach the celebrations of Christmas and New Year (Nataru) for 2024/2025, the government assures that the availability of energy sources, from fuels to electricity, is secure.

To mitigate any potential issues, several proactive measures have been put in place. These include ensuring adequate stock levels, strengthening infrastructure, and forming standby teams to manage possible spikes in demand and operational disruptions.

Here are the details of the government’s preparations to ensure that community energy needs are met during the year-end holidays.

The national fuel stock is secure, with a resilience level of 18-20 days for gasoline, gasoil, and avtur (aviation fuel). A total of 115 fuel terminals, 7,786 gas stations, 414 non-public fueling stations, 55 public fuel stations, 6,802 Pertashop outlets, 357 kerosene agents, and 71 public fueling stations (DPPU) are prepared for the holiday period.

“Based on projections for fuel distribution during the Christmas and New Year 2025 period, gasoline is expected to see a 5% increase, gasoil a decrease of 3.3%, and avtur a rise of 6.9%,” said Erika Retnowati, Head of BPH Migas, at a press conference on Thursday (19/12/2024).

Service will be supported by 1,820 standby gas stations, 4,442 LPG agents, 156 kerosene agents, 56 kiosks, 244 motorbike operators, and 207 tank trucks ready, including at six rest areas on toll roads and 11 strategic locations such as airports and ports. An emergency response team is also on standby to address any disruptions.

The promotional program “Special Nataru 2024-2025” will be available through digital applications, offering various benefits. Additional support includes the Serambi MyPertamina rest area and partnerships with non-fuel business entities for standby rental homes.

The national LPG stock is confirmed to be secure, with an average resilience of 17.12 days. The availability of LPG will remain stable throughout the Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 period. A total of 32 LPG terminals, 740 LPG distribution points, and 6,478 LPG agents have been prepared.

“The LPG stock condition will be maintained stable during the Christmas and New Year period,” she stated.

24-hour standby LPG supplies and distribution points are available in areas with high demand. Additional supplies have been arranged to ensure availability at agents and distribution points. All LPG distribution points are factoring in smooth deliveries from LPG depots to anticipate traffic congestion due to increased vehicle activity.

Field monitoring will be conducted intensively to ensure smooth distribution. Complaint services can be accessed through call centers 135 and 136.

The distribution of natural gas continues to run smoothly, serving 29 work areas that encompass 3,265 commercial and industrial customers, 2,508 small customers, 810,000 household connections, and nine power plants. Distribution is conducted through 32,343 km of gas network pipelines, 13 gas filling stations, three mobile refueling units, and three LNG terminals.

A decline of 1.7% in trading volume is predicted compared to the previous year, mainly because several power plants use gas from LNG. For public needs, the distribution of compressed natural gas (CNG) continues, with gas filling stations capable of 177,750 LSP prepared.

Various efforts have been made to ensure smooth distribution, including the establishment of a Nataru Task Force, operational from December 18, 2024, to January 9, 2025. Asset surveys and infrastructure checks are conducted to ensure security and operational smoothness.

Education and outreach are conducted through SMS blasts, social media, and 24-hour Task Force service posts. Additionally, network monitoring is in place, including control through SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.

Strengthening measures include 24-hour standby for managing disruptions, ensuring that gas and filling stations function optimally. Backup supplies are also provided at special facilities like FSRU Lampung and other LNG terminals to anticipate demand surges.

The national electricity system is projected to be secure during the Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 holidays. On December 25, 2024, the peak load is expected to reach 39,288 MW, while the supply capacity will be 53,104 MW, giving a reserve of 13,876 MW (35.4%). Compared to normal days, the peak load is down by 16.7%.

On January 1, 2025, the national peak load is projected to be 33,481 MW with a supply capacity of 50,909 MW. The reserve capacity reaches 13,305 MW (52.1%), despite a 16.6% decrease from normal days.

“The forecast for the electricity supply condition in the Java-Bali, Sumatra, Kalimantan, and much of Eastern Indonesia during this Christmas period is secure,” added Erika.

To maintain the reliability of electricity supply, several steps are being taken, including restricting high-risk work that could disrupt the electricity system, except in emergencies. Preventive maintenance on generation, transmission, and distribution systems is also being conducted to ensure supply stability.

Additionally, there is a focus on fulfilling primary energy needs, such as coal, gas, and fuels, to ensure daily operational adequacy. Backup generation, including reserve shutdowns, technical minimum loads, and load balancing between subsystems, is also being optimized to maintain regional balance.

Furthermore, support personnel and equipment are on standby, with 81,591 personnel, 3,318 vehicles, and 1,853 posts equipped with generators, UPS, and other supporting materials prepared for the holidays.
